This study aims to analyze the impact of monetary policy and fiscal policy on economic growth in Algeria during the period 1990–2025, by examining the nature of the relationship between selected macroeconomic policy variables and real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as an indicator of economic growth. The study relied on the descriptive-analytical approach in the theoretical part, in addition to the econometric approach in the applied part. The St. Louis Model was used to measure the impact of monetary and fiscal policies on economic growth in Algeria. The study variables consisted of money supply as an indicator of monetary policy and government expenditure as an indicator of fiscal policy, while real GDP was adopted as the dependent variable representing economic growth. Interest rate and inflation rate variables were excluded due to their incompatibility with the nature of the model and the empirical study. The results of the study revealed that both monetary and fiscal policies have an impact on economic growth in Algeria, with differences in the degree of influence between them. Government expenditure showed a significant role in stimulating economic activity, while money supply contributed to influencing growth levels to varying degrees throughout the study period. The findings also indicated that the effectiveness of economic policies in Algeria remains closely linked to the level of coordination between monetary and fiscal authorities, in addition to the nature of the Algerian economy, which depends heavily on hydrocarbon revenues. The study concluded with several recommendations, most notably the need to rationalize public expenditure, improve the effectiveness of monetary policy, strengthen coordination between economic policy instruments, and diversify the national economy in order to achieve sustainable and stable economic growth.
